white knuckle...

Driving, that is. This morning - after not sleeping and a new year's day spent four hours in the dark - it was raining. It was a steady rain, at least until I got past the fremot corridor. For readers (yeah, right.) who don't reside in the Bay Area, this is a choke point which on any other day is bumper-to-bumper slow. Today it was a bona-fide LAKE. And this wasn't even the worst part. I hit a patch of standing water just before the De Anza exit in Cupertino at about 45 mph, which gave me the third fright of the morning. I managed not to fishtail, got off at the appointed place, parked my car at 7:50 this morning, and began to shake.

Like I'm going to complain, I don't live in Guerneville[sp]. I could be literally floating away. Neither did i get trapped in five feet of water, like that poor reporter who had to smash out his window and swim to safety.

But it did rattle me, greatly. I should have worked from home.
